Born in a family of charcoal burners and woodcutters from the Valganna area, Francesco Maglia left his home in search of work at the early age of 14. In 1850 he began his career as an umbrella apprentice in an umbrella factory in Montechiari, in the province of Brescia.
By tradition, there has always been a son named Francesco, and the current owners are in fact Giorgio Maglia and his son Francesco who together represent the fifth and sixth generations active in the company.
Each umbrella is entirely handcrafted in their workshop in Milano, as the oldest most prestigious Italian umbrella maker.
